​WELCOME!

​To the WPGA Tour. Not that one. This is the Welsh Proper Golfers Association.  The tour where mind-numbing pars are frowned upon and a glorious 8 is better than a boring 5.



The tour started way back in the mid 90's with a group of friends who were united, some by a love of cricket, some by a love of Championship Manager, some even sharing a love for Mrs Boote. But the one thing that brought them all together was the passionate desire to beat Dave on the golf course. 

 

The tour had humble beginings, starting at Caerleon Golf Club, and featuring equipment which cost a combined £20 between the entire group. As time went by more money was spent, but the equipment quality showed no discernable improvement. Champione Stand Bag, Soarer Driver, Golf Master 9-wood, Seal Irons and Turtle Putter all made memorable appearences on tour and will never be forgotten.

 

Gradually the standard improved, as did the venues. Memberships were taken out at the Celtic Manor, Llanwern and, erm, Green Meadow. And players continued to come and go. The 4-balls turned into 6-balls, the tournaments evolved into Majors, and eventually RD created the tour's bible... The Database. A place where majors could be recorded, handicaps adjusted, and rankings created.

 

The original tour had many glorious moments. Lamb's 15 on the last at Caerleon, Ian destroying his golf bag. Dave destroying Ian's replacement golf bag. Chris finding new and exciting ways to throw away majors. Lamb's now infamous 3 stage putting stroke.... And lets not forget a trip to St Andrews which Rob never shuts up about.

 

However as time went by, the tour drifted apart. Majors were cancelled, people got married, Dave had lessons from Leejay. Until 2013... when, with Ian bored in work and having picked up an excel trick or two... The Database was reborn, and so was the tour. 2013's reunion tour saw some new members join the seasoned veterans, and was a roaring success with 19 events taking place, including a matchplay championship and a first ever awards do to finish off the season.
